In order for a company to work on a commercial or residential project in North Carolina above $30,000, the NC General Statutes requires the entity to be licensed by the State of North Carolina as a General Contractor. To practice as a General Contractor, you must also be Insured, carry liability, workman’s compensation and disability insurance. You do not want to hire a General Contractor that is not licensed and that does not have all of these insurances.
